Do I need to be incorporated to use Start Kit?
No. Sole proprietorships and partnerships are welcome. Start Kit detects your business type and only surfaces the obligations that apply, so sole props skip director and shareholder registers entirely. You can also incorporate from inside Start Kit when you're ready.Is my data safe?
Yes. Credentials live in an AES-256-GCM vault gated by a bcrypt-hashed PIN. We never store or display passwords in plaintext. All data is encrypted at rest in PostgreSQL and hosted on Railway with infrastructure in Canada. You can enable TOTP multi-factor auth on your account from Settings.Can my accountant or lawyer access my Start Kit?
Yes. Invite team members as Owner, Admin, or Member, and for Members you can pin access down to specific areas. For example, give your accountant Finance and Documents but nothing else. All invites are revocable.What if I incorporate federally vs. provincially?
All 13 provincial and territorial jurisdictions plus federal CBCA are covered. Annual returns and business-name renewals run on the right cadence per jurisdiction; if you incorporate federally, we automatically track the extra-provincial registration in your home province too.How do I export my data if I want to leave?
Documents can be downloaded from the Documents module any time. Per-module data exports (CSV / JSON for directors, shareholders, filings, etc.) are on the roadmap. Until then, contact support and we'll generate the dump for you. We don't believe in lock-in.Who's behind Start Kit?
